wedding of {dean + yang}

October saw the wedding of Dean & Yang, our great pathfinder's friend. When they first approach me to be their wedding photographer about 8 months ago, i was pretty hesitant to agree as friend's wedding are something a good'o photographer would always try to avoid. Then, i was also going through a rough patch, so the question if they were simply trying to be nice and give me some work to do lingers constantly. I am really glad they persisted and now i am really stuck with a set of great photos which took me some time to decide on what to do with them. The overall pastel feel is kind of nice, and reminds me of Jose Villa's wedding works. Anyways, to cut the long story short, hope you guys will enjoy the photos!

Dino the ring pillow.. hand sew by Yang (btw, Dino is Dean's nickname..)

Caught Yang admiring at the wedding cake.. yum yum.. Take my word for it.. one the best cake i have ever tasted.. (opps.. photographers are not supposed to eat when shooting!) Anyways, got to get the contact from them..

And here's the cake! Yum yum...

Kids! Don't you just love them?

The bride doing her makeup.. =)

Ah... really nice light..

Jo, i got you.. okay i got 'wantons' numbers of photos of you.

i just love this two shots!

dudes, where are you guys looking at? =)

okay what's a wedding without the classic kiss shot...

two of favorite shots of the day..

what can i say about the light? Amazing.. I wish every wedding could be as easy as this! =p

Last note, a heartfelt thanks to {dean + yang} for letting me shoot their wedding. It's really great to see you guys finally tying the knot after 10+ years. May God continue to bless your marriage and keep in touch when you guys are in Dubai!

pre-wedding of {willy+huiling}

This month we have the delight of working with {willy+huiling} for their pre-wedding shoot. It was really fun to share our ideas and planning for the shoot even though things didn't really went as planned. Somehow the day was bombarded by some silly questions. It goes like this..

At National Stadium, a certain burly indian uncle on a bicycle saw and and ask us, "where are you from?"
Boon wei, Willy, Huiling and friend look at each other and tries to answer it sincerely.

At Supreme Court, a certain unfriendly chinese uncle ran in, stop us before asking us, "where are you from?!!"
Boon wei, Willy, Huiling and friend look at each other and tries to answer it sincerely.

On the last occasion, Huiling and I honestly have the urge to tell him we are from S-I-N-G-A-P-O-R-E. Hah. Can't tell meh? All yellow skin who speak Singlish. Hah. Anyways, i found it quite hilarious, especially the part where the chinese uncle was talking on the walkie and he told the other party that there are four 'guys' in wedding gown. Eh the!? You get it.
Anyways, he told us we have ZERO chance of getting in, so we got the unfriendly hint and went for lunch after a day of "where are you from".

I really wondered what's wrong with the people nowadays. 'Four guys' in wedding gown, and it's so obvious we are GOING to take photos. Okay we get the point you are doing your job and have no doubts you guys are doing a fantastic job. Next time, please try asking, "hello, may i know where are you heading to and do have permission from the management?" I assure we will be able to provide you with a good answer.

Okay, i finally updated my blog. Been really busy and seeing so little of daylight lately. Been really sick also and drifting in/out of consciousness for a few days here and there. Health and weight is a major concern for me now. I think i should put on the Nike and start hitting the track soon.

To Willy and Huiling, thanks for being so spontaneous and fun. It was a tiring day but i am really happy with the photos.

Welcome to Zenith Stills

Spontaneous . Natural . Candid

“You can’t make those images happen and that ‘realness’ is part of their beauty.”

This is one sentence that how I would define my style of photography. Creating images from special action and detail that define each wedding, true to its uniqueness and character.

My approach for images often involved waiting. Fading into the background and waiting for moments to happen – like a bride looking down at her necklace, delicately touching the gift from her dad. Henry Cartier called this the “decisive moment”. These images often tell more than just happy faces. It tells of the intimacy of every wedding, of the unique character of the two people being in love, of that wrinkled hands of the bride’s father, of that napkin in the hands of the bride’s mother waiting to wipe away that joyful tears. The images that defines my style : a moment, a snippet of the whole story, and yet a story in itself.

This is Zenith Stills Fine Images.
